Japanese Goddess of Happiness & Fun

Uzume (pronounced oo-zoo-may) is the Shinto goddess happiness and fun. She is called Heaven's Daughter by the Japanese people and her name means "whirling". Also the goddess of health which is derived by drinking the blessed water from her streams.

When the Japanese Sun Goddess "Amaterasu" hid in a cave, making the world barren and covered in darkness, Uzume drew her out by performing a bawdy dance that made fun of shamanic ritual. By exposing her breasts and playing with her genitals, she created an uproar that piqued Amaterasu's curiosity and she came out from her cave thus bringing light and life back to earth.

My Uzume Goddess Pendant is a one-of-kind design, handmade ceramic in a pale blue/gray glaze with a mother of pearl finish. Bali silver beads & glass head bead complete the design.

The small Uzume Designer Goddess Necklace is strung with czech glass beads & sterling silver beads. Colors are light smoky blue and medium water blue. Necklace is 18" long and includes the 2" pendant.
