Yemaya
(pronounced Yey-maya) is the African Yoruban Goddess of the sea. She is
the creator/mother goddess who gave birth to the 14 orisha spirits.
Originally
worshiped in Africa and later Brazil where she is know as Iamanja. Yemaya's
worshippers send offerings of gifts and flowers out to sea on little boats. Those
who come to Mother Yemaya with complete surrender find that their troubles dissolve
in the waters of her embrace.
My
Yemaya goddess necklace is strung with sterling silver beads, pewter spirals,
and black glass beads and comes with a handmade Yemaya pendant wrapped with sterling
silver wire.
