Lilith
was originally the Sumerian Queen of Heaven and later became Adam's first wife.
She refused to be subordinate to him in any way, especially in their lovemaking.
But Adam insisted on her subservience and when he refused to treat her equally,
she left him. After this, she was seen as a demon to the Hebrews. She tricked
Yahweh and learned his secret power, growing wings and flying out of Paradise
to live in the desert.
In
the famous Sumerian wall plaque, Lilith has wings, talons and is crowned. She
stands on her lion throne and flanked by two owls. In Hebrew, Lilith means "owl"
and owls are creatures of the night. In spite of her exile, Lilith remains a powerful
Goddess, a symbol of female strength and independence. Call on her when you need
to take back your own power.s
My
Lilith Goddess pendant is glazed in a water blue glaze with a natural crackle
pattern. It is hand-painted with 23 kt. gold lusters and wrapped with 14 kt gold-filled
wire.
