In the ancient world, the circle was considered a symbol of wholeness, synergy and completion. Sacred ceremonies were often conducted inside stone circles. The Native American medicine wheel is a sacred circle. The moon, sun, planets are all circles. The halo over the virgin Mary is a circle. We often say to "come full circle" is to complete a cycle.
